IMPORTANT DATES

We are starting our new season a little earlier than normal as our recital will be earlier this year. The recital will be on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Our 2023/2024 dance calendar will be handed out during the first week of classes. Please refer to this calendar for all of our important dates. Also, all important information will always be posted on the board outside of Studio A.

A parent meeting will be held the first week of classes for students ages 3-8 years old at the start of your child’s ballet class.

NEW STUDENT OPENINGS

If you have any friends looking to join our studio, please have them call Cheryl directly at (734) 612-9790. Our schedule of new classes is available on our website.

DANCEWEAR

Ballet Classes: Pink ballet shoes for ALL classes. Old shoes of any color or type may be worn for classes. (Please no ballet shoes with a black sole.) For Recital, pink or sprayed tan shoes are required depending on costume color.

Tap Classes: Old shoes of any color or type may be worn for classes. ALL students will wear tan Mary-Jane style tap shoes for Recital.

Jazz / Lyrical Classes: For class the following are acceptable: tan split sole jazz shoes or pink ballet shoes. Recital shoes will be determined at a later time by costume.

*Please put your child’s name in ALL dance shoes and check with your instructor if you have any questions about the fit or type of shoe to wear.

Leotards: If your child needs a new leotard, we encourage you to purchase black camisole or long-sleeved leotards. The dark colored leotards allow the teacher to easily identify body position errors, and provide us with a common costume base. Students should plan on not wearing any type of cover-up in ballet class.

SNOW DAYS

For classes that begin after 4:00pm a determination to cancel will be made by 2:00pm on that day. Please call the Summit at 734-394-5460. Because we are an afternoon program, the decision to cancel does not always coincide with Plymouth/Canton School District closings.

*Please note that if you have an urgent message, please text Cheryl or your child’s teacher. Email is not checked daily.

Please feel free to contact Cheryl or your daughter's instructor if you are having any type of problem or concern. We would be more than happy to help you resolve a situation - but first we must be made aware of it.

Thank you for your support, we are excited to begin our 50th season with you! If you have any questions, please text Miss Cheryl at 734.612.9790 with a good time when you are available to talk.

Sincerely,

Dance students, it’s that time again! I hope you are having an enjoyable summer. Returning students have been sent their dance schedules. Please look your schedule over so that you can begin to schedule your fall activities and work out any schedule conflicts.

IF FOR ANY REASON YOU ARE REGISTERED AND WILL NOT BE RETURNING, PLEASE LEAVE ME A MESSAGE AT (734) 612-9790.

Many hours have gone into the construction of the schedule in order to place students in classes where the teachers feel they will learn best. We will move students around if we feel that they have been incorrectly placed. If you have any concerns or conflicts with the schedule, please text (734) 612-9790 with a date and time when you are available to talk. As always, I will do my best at getting back with you as soon as possible.

New Students: We would love to welcome some new families into our dance program. Please help spread the word about our program! If you have a friend who is looking to join our studio, please give them my information and I would be happy to talk with them about the class that would be best for their dancer! Be sure to have the new family mention your name, as you will receive your child’s most expensive class free for the entire month of January, and they will receive half off of the registration fee!

Dance classes begin on Wednesday, September 14th. Your first and last months payments will be due the first day of classes.

Shoes and Dancewear: Younger students will continue to use the tan Mary Jane tap shoes, which all of the older students wear. All ballet classes use pink ballet shoes. Only buy new pink shoes if you need them at this time, otherwise wait for recital. Used ballet shoes that are sprayed tan are fine for class. Your class may be spraying shoes for recital anyways. For Jazz shoes, speak to the instructor.

Advanced and intermediate dancers: As always we follow the school district’s schedule. Please keep this in mind when vacation planning.

I look forward to seeing you in September! Enjoy the rest of the summer!
